Singapore Road Safety Award 2014

(FOR HEAVY FLEET – OWNING COMPANIES)

 

1.  The Singapore Road Safety Council (SRSC) will be presenting ‘’Singapore Road Safety Awards” in 2014. This year, SRSC will have 4 categories of awards to be presented, namely:

  1. A. Road Safety Award for Companies with Heavy Goods Vehicle Fleet
  2. B. Road Safety Award for Companies with Bus Fleet
  3. C. Road Safety Award for Safe Driver (Vocational Licence)
  4. D. Road Safety Award for Most Improved Driver (Vocational Licence)

 

OBJECTIVE

2.  In 2013, SRSC made a Road Safety Award for Companies with Heavy Goods Vehicle Fleet. In 2014, a new category for Road Safety Award for Companies with Bus Fleet has been introduced.

 

3.  There are also two new awards for Safe Driver and Most Improved Driver for those holding vocational driving licences.

 

4.  The qualification period for all four awards shall be from 1 Jan 2014 to 31 Dec 2014. The application submission period is from 19 Jan 2015 to 16 Mar 2015. Participating Companies are requested to download the application forms via SRSC website www.srsc.org.sg and submit application forms (Hard Copy) to SRSC Secretariat by Monday, 16 Mar 2015 before 5.00 PM.

 

OBJECTIVE

5.  The objective for Awards (A) and (B) for Companies with Heavy Goods Vehicle Fleet and Companies with Bus Fleet is to recognise the Fleet – Owning Companies who promote road safety actively by having safety policies in place and providing appropriate training to their drivers.

 

6.  The objective for Awards (C) and (D) for Safe Driver and Most Improved Driver is to recognise Companies’ vocational licence drivers who maintain a good driving record and display safe driving behavior.

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CATEGORIES (A) AND (B)

7.  The award is for Heavy Vehicle Fleet – Owning Companies with vehicles ULW > 5000 kg. Bus Fleet – Owning Companies with Buses 19-seaters and above. All companies owning 10 or more of these types of vehicles are eligible to participate. The following categories

Heavy Vehicle Fleet Bus Fleet
  1. • Road Tax exempted vehicles.
  2. • Trailers (non-motorised).
  3. • Heavy Vehicles owned by Government and Statutory Boards.
  4. • Heavy Vehicles temporary owned by Dealers.
  5. • Companies who own less than 10 such vehicles.
  1. • Road Tax exempted buses.
  2. • Buses owned by Government, Statutory Boards.
  3. • Buses temporary owned by Dealers.
  4. • Companies who own less than 10 such vehicles.

 

8.  Participating companies will be assessed among others, on the following:

  1. i.   Management’s Commitment to Road Safety
  2. ii.  Operation and Control Management
  3. iii. Drivers Training and Awareness
  4. iv. Traffic Police / Land Transport Authority Violations.

 
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CATEGORIES (A) AND (B)

9.  The two awards are for Safe Driver and Most Improved Driver. Vocational driver categories refer to drivers of Heavy Goods Vehicles, Light Goods Vehicles, Buses (includes bus captains/service leaders) and Taxis. Companies are invited to submit their nominations of vocational drivers (at least 3 years of service with the company) who demonstrate great efforts on safer road usage. All companies with these types of vehicle fleets are eligible to submit nominations for one or both awards.
 
Each Company is allowed to nominate only one person each for the awards in categories (C) and (D), if it wishes to do so.

 

10.  Nominated drivers will be assessed among others, on the following:

  • Company recommendation with justification
  • Commendations received (if any)
  • Driving record with the authorities

The decisions of the judges on the results shall be final.
